American manufacturing is losing its competitive edge and ground-breaking studies by the NAM, The Manufacturing Institute and the Manufacturers Alliance (MAPI), confirm that our biggest problem is the rising cost of doing business at home. Recent positive trends in manufacturing – cyclical in nature -- should not mask the serious structural challenges that we face.
