Manufacturers Challenge EPA Overreach
Debarment Ruling Would Set Harmful Precedent for Manufacturers Across the Country
NAM Senior Vice President and General Counsel Linda Kelly released this statement after the Manufacturers’ Center for Legal Action joined other business groups in supporting BP’s effort to fight the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) debarment ruling:
“The breadth of the EPA’s overreach in this case is breathtaking and, if left to stand, would set a harmful precedent for manufacturers across the country. While we agree with rules and regulations meant to protect the public interest, this debarment ruling seems to be ignoring the confines of EPA’s statutory authority in order to be punitive and to make a point. This heavy-handed approach is concerning to all manufacturers.”
