Tax Reform Must Be Based in Simplicity, Fairness and Competitiveness
Investment Critical to Energy Production
Washington, D.C., 12/18/13 - National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Vice President of Tax and Domestic Economic Policy Dorothy Coleman issued a statement in response to Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus’ (D-MT) release today of a staff discussion draft on energy tax provisions.
“In light of our goal of a simpler and fairer tax code, we have initial concerns about an approach that focuses on using the code to determine our nation's energy policy. The NAM supports an ‘all of the above’ energy strategy to strengthen the U.S. economy, which can best be achieved through broad-based, pro-growth reforms that avoid picking winners and losers. Manufacturers are reviewing Senator Baucus’ draft as we do all tax reform proposals – through the lens of simplicity, fairness and competitiveness. We look forward to working with congressional tax writers to enact pro-growth, comprehensive reform.”
