Passage of Legislation to Streamline Permitting Process Good News for Manufacturers
Project Delays Hinder Job Creation and Hurt Competitiveness
Washington, D.C., 03/06/14 - National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse issued this statement after passage of H.R. 2641, the Responsibly and Professionally Invigorating Development (RAPID) Act:
“Manufacturers in the United States rely on a robust and healthy infrastructure system to supply affordable and reliable energy as well as to transport supplies and finished goods to market efficiently. Unnecessary delays to the permitting process have an enormous impact on this system and our ability to create jobs and remain globally competitive.
The RAPID Act is a critical tool in ensuring that environmental permits for infrastructure projects are being reviewed comprehensively in an efficient, streamlined manner that avoids endless challenges by opponents of development.”
