Climate Change Toolkit
In June, the House of Representatives passed a sweeping energy and greenhouse gas reduction bill, H.R. 2454 the American Clean Energy & Security Act. The NAM opposed this bill because of the increased cost and regulation that it would impose upon American manufacturers and consumers. Moreover, the NAM expressed concern that competitive damage would be especially severe if the United States acts unilaterally, and China, India and other manufacturing economies do not limit their own emissions.
Manufacturers are committed to working with Congress to establish sensible and responsible federal climate change policies that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, but these policies must maintain a competitive playing field for American companies.
As the Senate is set to consider this legislation in September, it is critical to contact your Senators now and urge them to oppose this type of legislation.
