Health Care Reform InformationHealth reform must preserve and strengthen the voluntary, innovative and flexible employer-based system that provides care to over 160 million Americans. Ninety-seven percent of NAM members already provide health benefits to their employees. The NAM believes reform should enable employers to continue offering flexible, generous health benefits without increasing the cost of doing business.

Since 1999, employer-sponsored health coverage premiums have increased by 119 percent, placing increasing cost burdens on employers and workers. Clearly costs are soaring out of control. And, these rising costs limit employers' ability to re-invest in their business.

The NAM supports health care reform that reduces health care costs and provides a broad variety of affordable, competing private health-plan options.
