President Obama announced the National Export Initiative (NEI) in his 2010 State of the Union speech. The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) strongly supports the NEI goal to double exports in five years and has provided the Administration with a blueprint on ways to achieve this ambitious goal. Manufactured goods exports represent over 60 percent of total U.S. exports of goods and services, so the voice of manufacturers is important in accomplishing this objective.
The NAM, the American Farm Bureau Federation and the Coalition of Service Industries – representing the three key economic sectors and virtually all U.S. exports – jointly released proposals on how to increase exports in these individual sectors.
