House Vote Offers Glimmer of Hope on Mandate, but Burden Still Looms

Manufacturers Seek Proposals to Lower Rising Health Care Costs

National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse issued this statement in support of H.R. 2667, the Authority for Mandate Delay Act of 2013:

“Since the outset of the Affordable Care Act debate, manufacturers have opposed government health care mandates because ninety-seven percent of NAM members already voluntarily provide health benefits to meet the needs of their employees and their families. The employer mandate will only complicate and threaten these benefits. It is a step in the wrong direction.

Manufacturers support delaying the employer mandate and encourage policymakers to spend the next year on finding a solution that drives down health care costs for manufacturers and their employees.”
