Manufacturers Welcome Approval of Freeport Expansion

All Applications Should Get Benefit of Timely Up-or-Down Decision

National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Vice President of Energy and Resources Policy Ross Eisenberg issued this statement on the Department of Energy’s (DOE) decision to authorize additional natural gas exports to non–free trade agreement countries from the Freeport terminal in Texas:

“Manufacturers are pleased that the DOE granted Freeport authorization to increase LNG exports from its Texas facility. Each project deserves the fairness of an up-or-down decision in a prompt fashion. We believe principles of free trade and open markets should govern whether companies can move forward and construct LNG export terminals on U.S. soil. We hope today’s announcement is a sign that the DOE will quickly complete the remainder of its licensing decisions.”
