Manufacturers Bulk Up Legal Muscle in Response to Aggressive NLRB

With Growing Regulatory Burden, Manufacturers’ Compliance Institute Offers Legal Support

Washington, D.C., April 2, 2015 – The Manufacturers’ Center for Legal Action (MCLA), the legal arm of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), is bulking up its legal muscle with the establishment of the Manufacturers’ Compliance Institute (MCI). In response to an aggressive agenda from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and other agencies, the MCI will provide legal support on matters relating to labor and employment compliance, giving manufacturers another tool to address the growing federal regulatory burden.

“As we prepare for implementation of the NLRB’s ‘ambush elections’ rule, manufacturers are reminded of the overwhelming challenge of deciphering legal restrictions and how to comply with the ever-increasing amount of complicated, and often vague, employment regulations,” said NAM Senior Vice President and General Counsel Linda Kelly. “While the MCLA will continue to fight regulatory overreach in the courts, the addition of the MCI will help ensure that manufacturers and their employees can navigate the complex maze of compliance.”

The MCLA serves as the leading voice of manufacturers in the courts, representing the 12 million men and women who make things in the United States. The MCLA strategically engages in litigation as a direct party, intervenes in litigation important to our manufacturers and weighs in as amicus curiae on important cases.
