NAM: Nomination of Powell to Lead Federal Reserve “Another Promising Sign for Manufacturers”

Washington, D.C. – National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons released the following statement on the nomination of Jerome Powell to be chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System:

“President Trump has made a wise and stellar choice with the nomination of Jerome Powell to be chair of the Federal Reserve. Powell unquestionably has the experience and expertise to lead the Fed at this critical juncture. Manufacturers appreciate a Federal Reserve chair who understands both manufacturing’s essential contribution to the U.S. economy and the advantages of promoting more growth. We are encouraged because Powell has always listened to the perspectives of NAM leaders in past meetings with him.

“Manufacturing workers want to see stronger economic growth that leads to more jobs created and more opportunity for their families, and Powell’s leadership at the Fed combined with President Trump’s bold agenda for tax and regulatory reform can help take our economy and our industry to new heights. This is another promising sign for manufacturers, who are already optimistic about the prospects for tax reform, that the coming months and years will make us more competitive in the global economy and empower us to grow manufacturing and hire more workers in America.”
