Manufacturers Endorse Rounds-King-Collins

Washington, D.C. – National Association of Manufacturers President and CEO Jay Timmons released the following statement on the Senate’s bipartisan immigration proposal led by Sens. Mike Rounds (R-SD), Angus King (I-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME):

“Manufacturers urge the Senate to adopt Rounds-King-Collins. We have repeatedly called for Washington to overhaul our broken immigration system so that it not only welcomes the contributions of those living in the shadows but also ensures we stop having these debates in the future by actually securing the border. This amendment is far from a comprehensive solution. However, it does take steps to fix immediate-term problems in a bipartisan way, such as addressing the status of Dreamers and improving security on the border, which is progress and which is why we support it.”

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is the largest manufacturing association in the United States, representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states. Manufacturing employs more than 12 million men and women, contributes $2.25 trillion to the U.S. economy annually, has the largest economic impact of any major sector and accounts for more than three-quarters of private-sector research and development. The NAM is the powerful voice of the manufacturing community and the leading advocate for a policy agenda that helps manufacturers compete in the global economy and create jobs across the United States.
