Energy Efficiency for U.S. Manufacturers

Boosting energy efficiency plays a critical role in meeting our country’s energy demands. Energy efficiency offers a cost effective opportunity for U.S. manufacturers to reduce energy consumption and costs.

NAM is partnering with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the ENERGY STAR Challenge that encourages U.S. manufacturers to improve the energy efficiency of their industrial and commercial facilities by 10% or more. If U.S. manufacturers reduced energy consumption by 10 %, the energy savings would be equivalent to:

- 1.6 Quadrillion BTU's saved
- $10.4 Billion saved
- 177,590 factory jobs
- 280,620,690 barrels of oil
- Powering 9,864,242 standard U.S. homes for a year

By taking the ENERGY STAR Challenge, NAM encourages its members to join with NAM and reduce energy consumption across all operations by 10% or more using resources provided through EPA’s ENERGY STAR program and the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program.
