Keith Smith is advisor to the president of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). In this capacity, Mr. Smith works closely with NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons and the NAM’s senior leadership team to enhance the competitiveness of manufacturers across the United States and create jobs.

Prior to serving as advisor to the President, Mr. Smith was the NAM’s director of employment and labor policy and served as the executive director of the NAM’s Labor Policy Institute. In this role, Mr. Smith was the NAM’s lead lobbyist before Congress and executive branch agencies on labor policy issues. He was responsible for advancing the NAM’s pro-growth manufacturing agenda on a number of high-priority policy issues, including employee relations, the Employee Free Choice Act, labor law, workplace safety, employee leave, discrimination and other key employment issues.
 
Mr. Smith joined the NAM in December 2005 as a policy analyst and later was director of research. In this role, Smith was responsible for developing a political and policy research program for the NAM.

Mr. Smith began his career working as an aide to Senator George Allen (R-VA) and later worked for Senator Allen during the 2004 election cycle at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). After leaving Capitol Hill, Mr. Smith was a federal government affairs specialist at the law firm Tew Cardenas, LLP.

Keith Smith is a graduate of the University at Buffalo and now resides in Washington, D.C.
