Manufacturers Support Passage of Water Resources Reform and Development Act

Legislation Would Ensure Critical Infrastructure Investment and Reforms

National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse issued this statement in support of H.R. 3080, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013:

“Manufacturers depend on inland waterways and ports to move key commodities and finished products to customers here and abroad. However, aging and deteriorating infrastructure leads to system disruptions and inefficiencies, driving up transportation costs and hurting our competitiveness.

In a recent survey, more than 65 percent of manufacturers said our infrastructure is not positioned to respond to the competitive demands of a growing economy. H.R. 3080 would make the reforms, enhancements and investments needed to ensure manufacturers can continue to grow and remain globally competitive.”
