NAM releases video for president’s First Day featuring small manufacturer President-elect Trump visited during campaign

Washington, D.C., January 20, 2017 – The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the nation’s largest manufacturing trade association and the unified voice of manufacturers in America, today unveiled a digital campaign to trumpet change in Washington.

“President Donald Trump is on course to be America’s most accessible modern-day president—accessible to the people who he will take an oath to serve today,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “We could think of no better way to congratulate our new president on his first day than on platforms, including Twitter, that advance his mission to hear, serve and empower everyone in our country. And, we could not have better spokespeople for our message than manufacturers who helped deliver his historic victory—and are counting on his promise to bring our industry all the way back for more jobs and brighter futures.”

As part of the digital campaign, the NAM is releasing a First Day video, featuring then-candidate Trump visiting NAM member Steve Staub of Staub Manufacturing Solutions, a small manufacturer in Dayton, Ohio, back in September 2016. 

“From all of us doers, makers and hard workers, Mr. President, good luck on your first day. Let’s get to work. Let’s be the solution,” Staub says in the video, which spurs America to think of what’s possible and weaves an uplifting montage of manufacturing workers and shop floors.

“The cost of doing business today is keeping manufacturers from reaching their full potential, but starting today, we have a president who is focused on breaking down those barriers—and the NAM couldn’t be more excited to begin working with him,” said Timmons. “Beginning with a letter from more than 1,100 manufacturing and business leaders we sent to President Trump immediately after the election, the NAM has been committed to working with this president to be the solution, starting by addressing onerous regulations, high taxes, the rising cost of health care and our crumbling infrastructure.”

Timmons also tweeted President Trump, wishing him luck ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.

“Manufacturers are optimistic about what the future holds under this new administration and encourage those who share this positive message to join our call by engaging with the NAM and using the hashtag #yourehired,” said Timmons.
