NAM and MI Celebrate #MFGDay2022 to Give Students Inside Look at Modern Manufacturing

Washington, D.C. – Today, the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute—the workforce development and education partner of the NAM—began their celebration of national Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) to help students and educators, business and community leaders, elected officials and media learn more about the rewarding and high-paying career paths in modern manufacturing.

MFG Day is a call to manufacturers to open their doors and engage students and their communities, helping to build the next generation of the modern manufacturing workforce. With more than 795,000 jobs open in manufacturing today, it has never been more important to bring this message to communities across the United States.

“Every year hundreds of companies from around the country help us celebrate MFG Day as we work to inspire, educate and empower the next generation of manufacturing workers,” said NAM President and CEO and MI Chairman of the Board Jay Timmons. “Having partners helps us spread the word that creators are wanted and there is a job waiting for you in modern manufacturing.”

“MFG Day aims to change the narrative around modern manufacturing and the careers available today,” said MI President Carolyn Lee. “There are hundreds of thousands of jobs available, but too many people don’t know about the incredible opportunities for meaningful, well-paying careers in this innovative industry. That’s why we’re working year-round to engage the future of our workforce—America’s students—to show them what’s available today in their own backyards.”

The NAM thanks its 2022 MFG Day Gold Sponsor, Emergent BioSolutions, for their support.
