NAM Statement on Justice Anthony Kennedy

Washington, D.C. – National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons released the following statement on the retirement announcement of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy:

After three decades on the Supreme Court, Justice Kennedy has cemented his place in history as the pivotal voice in many of our nation’s landmark court cases. A defender of First Amendment rights and of dignity and equality, Justice Kennedy served with integrity, principle and distinction. He has changed millions of lives for the better, including my own. My family can be called a family because of his singular role in our nation’s history, said Timmons.

Manufacturers are hopeful that President Trump will nominate a new justice who will serve with the same commitment to the rule of law and the values that make and keep America exceptional: free enterprise, competitiveness, individual liberty and equal opportunity. Manufacturing families across the country expect nothing less.
